Our Approach

The project connected two existing buildings and introduced state-of-the-art facilities, including a rebound room with a level-access trampoline for physical therapy, three fully accessible classrooms with automated access doors and specialist hoists, and a fully accessible school hall. New hygiene rooms now provide assisted and non-assisted WC access, while the Life Skills Kitchen features rise-and-fall units with integrated specialist appliances, allowing pupils to develop essential independent living skills. The project was delivered over 58 weeks and involved modernising existing facilities while doubling capacity to support the charity’s growing needs.

Sustainability was a key focus, with a PV system supplementing the mains power supply. A new central heating system, including underfloor heating and LTHW radiators, is now powered by air-source heat pumps. The outdated oil-fed boiler was decommissioned and replaced with an energy-efficient system, ensuring long-term sustainability.
The new facilities have transformed Rainbow Hub’s ability to support children with complex neurological conditions, providing a cutting-edge, inclusive environment tailored to their needs. Extensive design input ensured seamless integration with existing structures and careful selection of finishes considered warmth, texture, and colour to create a sensory-friendly space. In addition to delivering the project on time and within budget, we donated time and resources to oversee additional improvement works free of charge, helping the charity achieve the best possible outcome. Initial feedback from professionals visiting the site has been overwhelmingly positive, with many considering it the best facility of its kind in the country.

Client Testimonial

"It has been a true pleasure to collaborate with TMT during the construction of Rainbow Hub School. They demonstrated professionalism, dedication, and hard work throughout the entire project. Despite the challenges posed by limited space and the need to work alongside an operational children’s nursery, the project was completed on budget and expertly managed. The TMT team played a crucial role in addressing design challenges and adapting to changes, ensuring the school was ready for the new term. This was Rainbow Hub’s first project of this scale, but with TMT’s expertise, we were confident every step of the way. Thanks to their meticulous attention to detail, Rainbow Hub School has been completed to an exceptional standard and will positively impact the lives of children with disabilities for many years to come."
